This is a 3-hour cooking journey at the Amal Women's Cooperative Center, led by the talented Nora Fitzgerald Belahcen. This experience celebrates Moroccan cuisine in an empowering and inclusive atmosphere, offering hands-on experience in preparing traditional Moroccan snacks using aromatic spices and fresh, local ingredients. 

As you explore the various spices used in Moroccan cuisine, you'll gain insight into the cultural significance of each dish. Start with basic dish preparation and cook over charcoal, while ensuring the fire's intensity with bellows. 

As the dishes cook, indulge in a tea ceremony, where hosts discuss the Amal Center's mission to empower women and answer guests' questions about Morocco. 

The experience culminates in a communal dining session, where you'll savor the flavors of your creations and engage with the Amal team, learning more about their impactful and inspiring work.

Learning to cook traditional Moroccan classics like tajine, couscous or pastilla under Nora and her team's guidance and with the assistance of the women who train at the Center is deeply enriching, providing insight into the subtleties of Moroccan cuisine and culture. The atmosphere is full of warmth and camaraderie: a unique blend of culinary education and cultural immersion, with the cooperative dedicated to supporting and training disadvantaged women.

Savor Marrakesh's flavors in a heartwarming 3-hour cooking experience at Amal Center.

We start by learning the different spices that go into Moroccan cuisine.
Then we get to work! After we do the basic prep of our dishes, we put them on charcoal to cook and use the bellows to make sure the fire is hot.
Once our fires are going nicely, we sit and enjoy a tea ceremony, where the hosts will talk about Amal Center, it's special mission to empower women, as well as any and all questions guests may have about Morocco in general.
Once the dishes are done, it's time to enjoy the fruits of our labor!
